Finally finding the right doctor at 33 weeks pregnant

Recently I switched health care providers at 33 weeks of pregnancy because I was not happy with my current OB.  For awhile, I didn't feel comfortable with her and felt her mannerisms were less than desirable.  I felt bad about wanting to change and felt that I should stick with her because I've been seeing her all this time and she was my provider when I was pregnant with my son.  At one point I had been accidentally schedule to see another provider in the same office and felt so comfortable and at ease with her.  That's sort of when I first thought about switching but didn't have the guts to.
What finally pushed me to change was the treatment I got after being diagnosed with gestational diabetes.  For someone who loves sweets it was like the world came crashing down.  I was so upset and depressed when the OB was going over the things I could and couldn't have.  It wasn't so much the food but her whole attitude was almost cold and uncaring.  Every time I went into see her it was no..no..no. can't have this and can't have that.  And after each visit I felt angry and pissed off, I literally wanted to tell her off.  I couldn't understand why I couldn't have bread, she didn't explain the reason just said I couldn't have it.  I know eating fruits and vegetables are important no matter what, it was the one thing she kept pushing.  To be a bit of a wise *ss, I told her I don't like vegetables and all she could say was I had to find something.  There was just no feeling of empathy.  I had to ask another doctor what was the reason for no bread if you have gestational diabetes.  Dr. B explained it calmly and rationally, giving me an honest but kind answer as to why.  The way he responded and the answer given  was calming and I responded much better.
So I reached on a mom Facebook group and asked if anyone thought of changing providers at 33 weeks.  The response was amazing and provided so much positive feedback from everyone.  One of the responders, Kyleen, worked for Dr. Christy Takemoto at Maui Lani Physicians & Surgeons.  Dr. Takemoto formerly worked at the facility I normally go for doctor appointments and I had heard about her.  I took a chance, made an appointment, and have been completely happy!  Everyone is friendly and outgoing, you immediately feel comfortable and at ease.  Each visit Dr. Takemoto checks with me on how my blood sugar numbers are and doesn't have a cow if I tell her my numbers have been high a couple of times.  But we both feel that it's due to my portion size and not so much what I've been eating.  Having GD has been a struggle for me but now I have a supportive and compassionate physician to help me through the final weeks of my pregnancy.  What's even better is that Dr. Takemoto may more than likely be the one to deliver my daughter, which is a nice change to know who will be the one in the delivery room!

My Journey Part 2

Recently I finally purchased the One Week Marketing training center.  I have followed Jennifer Ledbetter aka Pot Pie Girl,a Georgia mom who went from having  $27.50  in her checking account to making a six figure income! Amazing! Sounds too good to be true doesn't? Not with hard work and determination you can do it too.

For a long time I've searched for another way to earn an income and tried various work at home opportunities with minor success.  Lately, I've also become unhappy with my job and working for someone else.  I find myself becoming easily irritable and dreading every day going to work, thank goodness for the wonderful coworkers. Once that started to happen, I realized that I was over it and needed to do something else.  I didn't want to find anothe "job" and repeat the whole process again.  My husband and I were also sick of barely living paycheck to paycheck.  Although it seems like we're actually getting ahead, WHAM! we get hit upside the head by life and we're sent two steps back!  What I wanted to do was work from home, be my own boss, and be there when my family needed me.  But how?

I tried different work at home opportunities such as Avon, I made a little but not enough to quit my job. My first attempt with Avon I had some success but quit because I moved and just didn't have the time to do it anymore.  Fast forward a few years later and I decided to give it another try, but this time had a different outcome as things in the company had changed.   I began to spend more on product samples than actually make money.  I also realized that my heart and mind just wasn't really into it.  I know I didn't promote it as much as I should, but I did knew when it was time to quit.  Although a wonderful company, it just wasn't for me anymore.  I also tried Scentsy and Organo Gold, wonderful companies but I found that I just didn't have the funds to put into them.

Then I tried to think of products I could make on my own and sell to make additional income.  I had a hard time deciding what I wanted to try, then trying to figure out how much I could put into it.  What could be cost effective, a good seller, and be easily cleaned up when needed.  I came across several ideas and continued to flonder for awhile.  I didn't want to create products and have a lot of inventory.  I searched for something where I could earn a living and allow me flexibility. That's when  I then came across the One Week Marketing and Jennifer's inspiring story of how she changed her life. After reading her incredible story a light flipped on and I said this is it! This is what I've been searching for, I needed to try it out and see where it takes me.

Now Pot Pie Girl doesn't make any empty promises and lays it out there like it is.  Her famous qoute “If you’re willing to do for a year what others won’t, you can spend a lifetime doing what others can’t", made so much sense and truly inspired me.  With hard work I can accomplish something that can change the course of my life forever!

In addition to working on my lens for Squidoo, I've been trying to find other ways to make money online.  Following the "don't put all your eggs in one basket" theory.  I understand publishing lens on Squidoo will take time and it's still something I need to see if I can stick with it.  In the meantime, I am hoping to have other ways of making money going as well.  However, I'm trying not to do too many things so I don't get overwhelmed and I can also get a bit distracted by life or whatever.  Life is the biggest distraction but also one that can't be ignored.

Writing my lens for Squidoo

Today I’m working on the 3rd lens for Squidoo, I’ve been working on each lens a little at a time as I’m still learning how to write them. So far so good. The first time I tried following the steps in the One Week Marketing Guide, it took me awhile as I tried to figure out how all worked. I’m getting better at it but I still find myself referring back to the guide. My goal is to post 3-5 lens a week once I’m more comfortable with it. However, I’m finding myself having to change a couple of the topics I have chosen, either because there weren’t enough recommended photos or there were too many lens written about the subject. Such as the case is with the lens I’m on the Zumba Exhilarate Body Shaping System, each title I’ve chosen has already been taken. Instead of discarding the topic, I’m going to try and go in another direction and maybe be a little more detailed about Zumba. I hate to waste out on all the hard work I’ve done, besides this can turn out to be a good learning experience.

Another thing I’ve learned is to really pay attention to the customer reviews. This is where you get a bit of the information you use to write your lens. I don’t want to write a lens about a product that has so many bad reviews. One alternative would be to try and spin it so that it still remains positive. I’m trying not get impatient because I really want to get started doing things right and make some great passive income.  I really believe the more I do it the better at it I get and will be able to create a lens pretty quick.

Frustration with Squidoo!

Recently I joined the Squidoo Community, it's where you can share information about products and earn commissions.  I was so excited and couldn't wait to get started!  For the past couple of days I've had problems with uploading photos to a lens.  When I first signed up I had issues with uploading a profile photo and still do!  Today when I logged on so that I could work on my lens, I found that I still had issues with photo uploads and haven't been able to find information anywhere to help.  I also discovered that the photos that I added to my first lens was gone!  I was stumped and couldn't figure it out.  I put in a help ticket to Squidoo and even posted on their forum.  Hopefully, someone will be able to help or this problem will get fixed!

Cough Remedies for Toddlers

It can be quite stressful when your toddler has a cough or cold because you feel as you don't know quite how to help them.  I've been told by my son's pediatrician and web research that cough medicines have been shown to not have any affect on a cough.  A cold can cause a cough in toddlers as the mucus in their nasal passageway builds up in their throat.   Because they don't know yet how to blow their nose, a cough is made much worse as the mucus builds up in their nasal passages.  Coughs are more severe at night when a child is laying down and the mucus begins to build up.

Just as it seemed my son was getting over a cold, a new one seemed to sprout up.  I felt it was another cold  and didn't need to worry much.  His cough lingered on for almost three weeks and at my husband's urging I took him to see his pediatrician.  I relayed my concern that it might be asthma, but he listened to my son's breathing and said his lungs were clear and that he picked up another cold as he was just getting over one. I feel bad for my son because his cough is interrupting his sleep and he's not getting the rest that he needs.  I searched the internet and books for remedies on helping him with his cough.

Here's a few things I tried that may help you.

-My son sleeps with us so I elevate his head as much as possible with a couple of pillows.  It helps but only works for so long because he squirms and rolls all over the bed
-Vicks Baby Rub: I rub this on his chest, throat, and back.  I've tried the feet and sock method, but he just pulls off his socks.
-Give your child lots of liquids such as water or juice.  This will help keep them hydrated during their cold and break up the mucus in their throat which is causing the cough.  If your child throws up because of the constant cough, you can give them pedialyte or make your own solution using 4 cups of water, 1/2 tsp of salt, 2 Tbsp of sugar, 1/2 tsp of instant Jell-O powder for flavor.
-Run a cool mist humidifier at night to soothe an inflamed or scratchy throat and loosen up the mucus by filling the air with moisture. (try find one that you can put vicks in)
-Use nasal drops and a bulb syringe to clear out any mucus in the nasal passages.    I found that Little Remedies makes a wonderful  Stuff Nose Kit complete with Saline and a Nasal Aspirator. If your toddler will cooperate, tilt their head back just a bit, use 2-6 drops of the saline solution in each nostril, allow 10-15 seconds to soften mucus then use the bulb syringe to remove the mucus and saline.
-A spoonful of honey before bed has been shown to be effective in relieving a cough.  It will coat their throat and alleviate soreness.  Honey is to be used only in children over one years of age, in babies younger than one can cause botulism, a life threatening illness.  The darker the honey, like buckwheat, the better
2 tsp of honey with lemon water before bedtime, repeat this as necessary to ease your toddler's nighttime cough
Warm tea and honey with lemon before bedtime to relieve cough and ease congestion.
If doesn't drink tea then a spoonful of honey works.
honey mixed with 1/2 cup of orange juice
make your own cough syrup with water, honey and lemon juice
Dont' let your child get too hot because it can bring on the coughing fits
Chicken Soup:
Chicken soup will provide relief from a cold as well as cough. If your toddler is big enough, feed him hot and fresh chicken soup
