Knowing When It's Time To Move On
I've been trying to master sewing lately and I enjoy it, most of the time. I get easily frustrated when the thread or needle breaks then I have to take time to fix it. Part of the reason is that I have so little time I can devote to it but I wonder if I'm just forcing myself to love it, is it truly my dream job? During college, I did enjoy it for the most part but didn't quite have the patience for it. I figured it was just because I was new at it and didn't know exactly what I was doing. Now is it because I don't have time for it or maybe I just don't love it. I really love the creative process of sewing but I don't know if I love it and can devote all my time to it. I'm not saying I'm giving up on it completely, I would still love to master sewing so that I can do little repair jobs or hemming at home. It would be so easy for someone to tell me to give it up but when will I truly know it's time to move on and find what I am destined for.

Miss Cat, I too have a love/hate relationship with my sewing machine. Mostly it's love, but there have been times when I was frustrated to tears. The time I sewed through the side of my thumb, the time I had to seam rip 4 yds of stitching because one of the fabrcs was inside out, or the time I top-stitched a black leather bag in navy blue thread by mistake. Sewing IS FRUSTRATING! I won't try to talk you into sticking with it, that's your decision. However, I can tell you that there is no shame in stepping back from it for a while and giving yourself a chance to reevaluate your position. Take a break and come back to it with a fresh mind.

Thank you Miss Rikka! I think taking a step back is a good idea and I'm sorta doing that right now. I have so many ideas of things I would like to do to have my own business and I also find sewing keeps popping up. I love handbags and I can't see myself buying it when I could make it and I know I can do it. It's so nice to see that someone else has had the same relationship with their sewing machine as I have. Mahalo for the follow and I will continue to follow you as well! Great posts and tutorials!
